Amalfi Coast

Come on a journey with me to Campania, the definition of Dolce Vita, where the water sparkles and where lemons decorate every corner of the region.

Amalfi is one of the most popular destinations of the region, always filled with tourists and locals who come to enjoy a swim or a stroll in the scenic center. One of the most famous attractions in all of Campania is the Amalfi cathedral, the Duomo di Sant'Andrea, sitting right in the centre of the town, overlooking the stunning mountains above. Once you go up the steps, you will see why this cathedral is so famous, with its intricate details and stunnimg  colors. If you have a sweet tooth, you must try a pastry from the famous pasticceria located right next to the cathedral called Andrea Pansa. You can spend the whole day in the Piazza Duomo with a sweet treat and the most stunning cathedral as your view.

Capri Island is the most famous spot for a tropical vacation in the region. When you think of Capri you think lemons, vespas and blue waters - which is exactly what the island is all about. The island consists of two main harbors - the Marina Piccola and the Marina Grande - both scenic locations and hot tourist spots. If you visit Anacapri and feel brave you can go on a ride on the famous chair lift that shows you views of the whole island. In Capri town you can relax in the Piazzeta Di Capri watching the people go by while enjoying an affogato. The island is where the iconic 1960s film “It started in Naples” was filmed and you can live your own cinematic fantasy by taking a boat ride to the Grotta Azzurra.

Positano is the must visit star of the Amalfi Coast - the true gem of Italy that has inspired dozens of songs, films and  art. It is just as dreamy as you imagine it - covered in color and with the most sparkling waters in all of Campania. The hundreds of homes  built in the mountains surrounding make the town look like a drawing. It is worth the long walk downhill just to witness the beauty of Positano from the Spiaggia Grande - the main beach. A flight of stairs will lead you to the center where there is an abundance of places to eat or shop. If the long walks seem tiring don’t worry - there are reliable buses and if you don’t mind paying extra you can use a taxi. Do not miss Positano on your Campania trip!

Procida is an island just a short ferry ride from Naples or Ischia and a great destination to spend the day. It is accessed only by ferry and the small island has history dated back to ancient times. The island is so scenic and beautiful, it has been featured in dozens of Hollywood films, notably “The Talented Mr Ripley’’ and Massimo Troisi’s “Il Postino”. A main attraction of the island is the church of the Madonna delle Grazie located in the Piazza dei Martiri. The best thing to do on the island is explore the hilly and colorful streets or have a drink at the harbor. If you are in Naples for the day you can definitely make a quick stop in Procida as it is a small island and can be explored in just one day!

Naples is the capital of Campania and the third largest city of Italy. Naples has roots to the ancient world, and today it is a staple of the region, as many visiting the Amalfi Coast pass by Naples for a slice of pizza  or to enjoy the special town. The historic city center - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - will take you on an adventure back in time when life was all about having a drink in the plaza or enjoying long summer walks. You will definitely see a mural of Diego Maradona but that is normal here - football is a beloved sport in Naples and widely celebrated historically and today. Do not forget to try a slice of Neapolitan pizza - famously the best in all of Italy!

The Amalfi Coast is the perfect location to live your dolce vita fantasy. Ride on a Vespa, take a boat ride for a swim and fill your palate with lemons! Positano is the perfect place to do this. What you should know about Positano is that the entire city is built on a hilly mountain and downhill walks are required to get to the center from any given location, often with hundreds of stairs and a whole lot of ups and downs! This is not to say that if you are not an athlete you should not visit, just be cautious of this when considering outfit choices and when making your daily plans. The Amalfi Coast is known for being the “lemon capital” so make sure you try lemon pasta - and in some places such as Capri, drinks like limoncello are served in a giant lemon! Renting a Vespa might also be a fun option as riding down the mountain roads between Positano and Amalfi is an experience you don’t wanna miss! Enjoy the sweet life of Campania!
